A major disaster was averted in east Delhi's Vivek Vihar C block on Sunday afternoon when a fire erupted in the stilt parking area of a residential building. The incident occurred just a week after a massive blaze in the same locality's B block claimed nine lives and left one man injured.
Fire Reported and Responded To
According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), a call regarding the fire was received at approximately 1:40 pm. In response, a fire tender carrying around six fire personnel was immediately dispatched to the scene. Simultaneously, the police received an alert indicating that the fire had originated from an electricity junction box installed in the building's stilt parking.
Swift Action Prevents Casualties
The firefighting team worked efficiently to bring the blaze under control. By 2:40 pm, the fire was completely extinguished. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported in this incident, marking a stark contrast to the earlier tragedy in the neighboring B block.
Safety Measures Emphasized
This incident highlights the importance of regular maintenance of electrical infrastructure in residential areas. Authorities are likely to conduct inspections to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
