Gurgaon BLOs Start Door-to-Door Voter Verification for Electoral Roll Revision
Gurgaon BLOs Begin Door-to-Door Voter Verification Drive

Gurgaon: Booth level officers (BLOs) have initiated door-to-door visits across the city to verify voter details as part of the special intensive revision (SIR-2026) of electoral rolls. District authorities are closely monitoring the verification drive and coordinating with resident welfare associations and housing societies to ensure uninterrupted access for enumerators. The administration has warned of strict action, including registration of FIRs, against any BLO found negligent in performing assigned duties during the revision process.

Armed with voter lists and enumeration forms, BLOs began visiting residential colonies and housing societies to distribute forms and verify voter information. The exercise, which started in several parts of the district, will be gradually expanded to cover all areas in the coming weeks.

Verification Process Details

District election officer and deputy commissioner Uttam Singh stated that during the campaign, BLOs provide voters with the enumeration form. Through this form, the details recorded in the voter list will be verified. BLOs will obtain information from voters including mobile number, date of birth, Aadhaar number (voluntary), name of parents or spouse, along with other necessary information. Singh added that voters whose names, or the names of their parents, are recorded in the voter list of 2002 will only need to fill and submit the enumeration form. Those whose names are not available in the 2002 voter list must submit at least one document from a prescribed list, including birth certificate, identity card, passport, driving license, educational certificate, residence certificate, land or property records, and other valid documents prescribed by the Election Commission.

Registration and Corrections

The DC said that during the campaign, the process of registration of new eligible voters, correction in name and address, and removal of names of deceased or transferred voters will also continue. Forms 6, 7, and 8 will be used for these purposes. He appealed to all voters to provide correct and complete information and cooperate in making the campaign successful by submitting necessary documents on time. For the strength of democracy, an accurate and updated voter list is extremely necessary, and the participation of every citizen is important, he added.

Surprise Inspections and Strict Measures

Electoral registration officer and SDM (Badshapur) Sanjeev Singla conducted a surprise inspection at a housing society in Sector 57. He warned that an FIR will be registered under Section 32 of the Representation of the People Act against BLOs for negligence and disobedience, which carries a provision of three months imprisonment and a fine. Singla inspected various polling stations and booths, reviewing the verification work and the process of filling enumeration forms.

Singla said the administration has set up a control room at his office, and continuous calls are being made to BLOs asking for their locations. This is being done to ensure all BLOs hit the ground and visit the societies. For smooth access inside societies, they are informing voters about BLO visits through RWAs.
