Hamirpur Trekker's 430-km Trek for Organ Donation Awareness

Anil Kumar, a trekker from Hamirpur, successfully completed a 430-kilometer trek along the Manali-Leh highway in 17 days to raise awareness about organ donation. He was warmly welcomed upon his return to Hamirpur.

Trek Details and Achievements

Anil began his journey on June 8 and reached the Hall of Fame in Leh on June 25. After resting in Leh for a few days, he returned home. During the trek, two individuals pledged to donate their bodies by filling out the required forms, an achievement he described as 'like winning an Oscar'.

He covered 20 to 28 kilometers daily, but on one occasion he trekked 49 kilometers in a single stretch because a planned midway halt was unavailable.

Community Support and Challenges

Anil expressed gratitude to people in Sissu, Tandi, Keylong, Darcha, and Sarchu for their cooperation and support. He also met tourists from across the country, many of whom assured him they would consider pledging their organs. He emphasized that organ donation is one of the noblest causes and urged everyone to support it for the welfare of humanity.

Despite having survival training under Army experts, Anil faced several hardships during the trek, including nausea due to low oxygen levels, which required medication he carried with him.
