Haryana to Mechanise Cleaning in 3 District Hospitals

Chandigarh: Haryana will introduce mechanised cleaning and sanitation services in the district hospitals of Gurgaon, Jind and Kurukshetra under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode, with an annual outlay of about Rs 3-3.5 crore.

Improving Cleanliness Standards

Additional chief secretary (health and family welfare) Sumita Misra said the initiative aims to improve cleanliness standards and provide a safer environment in government hospitals. Misra also asked officials to put in place a monitoring mechanism and ensure round-the-clock supervision of housekeeping services.

Modernisation Efforts

She said the initiative was part of the state's efforts to modernise public hospitals and improve service quality and patient safety. The mechanised cleaning services will include the use of modern equipment and trained personnel to maintain hygiene in critical areas such as operation theatres, wards, and corridors.

The PPP model is expected to bring efficiency and accountability in the cleaning services, with private partners responsible for providing equipment and manpower. The government will monitor the performance through a dedicated team and periodic audits.

This move is part of a broader strategy to upgrade healthcare infrastructure in Haryana, with a focus on patient comfort and infection control. Similar initiatives may be extended to other districts based on the success of this pilot project.
