Patna: The Intach Patna chapter and the Bihar Puravid Parishad on Saturday urged the state government to immediately register historically and archaeologically important buildings as protected monuments. The appeal was made during a seminar focused on Patna's heritage structures.
Inaugural Address and Book Release
Inaugurating the event, Intach's Prem Sharan appealed for the preservation of the historic Sultan Palace, warning that the demolition of heritage structures damages cultural identity. He also released a book on Patna Kalam, describing the art form as an important source for historical research.
Conservation and Public Participation
Professor Kamini Sinha of NIT Patna emphasized that conservation efforts require public participation. She warned that the destruction of heritage buildings weakens Patna's 3,500-year-old historical continuity.
Professor Anushree Barman presented photo documentation of Patna's heritage prepared by Rupa Jha. Anjali Sharma highlighted the deteriorating condition of the Nepali Temple in Hajipur and called for a reassessment of heritage management practices.
Legal Safeguards and Citizen Involvement
Professor Anil Prasad stressed the need for stronger legal safeguards and urged citizens to actively participate in preserving heritage sites instead of relying only on government agencies.
