The Jaipur district administration on Wednesday seized 35 gas cylinders during a raid conducted under Operation Pravartan, a state-level campaign aimed at curbing black marketing, illegal storage, and unauthorized refilling of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders. The operation comes amid an ongoing supply crisis in the city.
Details of the Raid
According to officials, the action was taken based on specific intelligence regarding an illegal refilling setup operating in Govindpura (Bakshawala) on Shikarpura Road. A special enforcement squad led by the District Supply Officer (Jaipur-I) carried out the joint operation and recovered 35 domestic and commercial cylinders from the premises.
Seized Equipment
In addition to the cylinders, authorities seized one electronic weighing scale and one electric motor from the site. These items indicate that the premises was allegedly being used for unauthorized gas transfer and related activities, posing significant safety risks.
“Preliminary investigations have revealed that such illegal refilling centers are emerging as a major cause of accidents occurring within the city. Operating without adherence to safety standards, these centers pose a grave threat to the lives and property of nearby residents,” an official said.
Legal Action
The district administration has lodged an FIR at Sanganer Sadar Police Station against two individuals allegedly linked to the illegal operation. The raid is part of a broader crackdown launched by the state government to check unsafe and unlawful LPG handling practices in Jaipur.
Authorities emphasized that such activities not only violate regulations but also increase the risk of fire and explosions in residential areas. “Strict action will continue to be taken in the future against any individuals involved in illegal refilling, storage, or black marketing. Our appeal to Jaipur residents is to cooperate with the authorities by immediately reporting any such suspicious activities to the Department, thereby helping to ensure the safety and security of all citizens,” another official stated.
The operation underscores the administration's commitment to maintaining public safety and enforcing compliance with LPG handling norms. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any illegal activities to the authorities.
