Jammu IGP Orders Operational Readiness for Amarnath Yatra

The Jammu Inspector General of Police (IGP) has instructed all officers to maintain operational readiness to ensure a safe and successful Amarnath Yatra, which is scheduled to commence on July 3, an official confirmed on Tuesday.

Security Review Meeting

Jammu Zone IGP Bhim Sen Tuti issued the directive during a meeting held to assess security arrangements for the 57-day annual pilgrimage, according to a police spokesperson. The meeting was attended by officers from the Army, CRPF, BSF, SSB, CISF, ITBP, intelligence agencies, Traffic Police, SDRF, and Railways Police.

Key Directives

Addressing the gathering, Tuti highlighted the necessity of heightened vigilance and seamless coordination among various agencies. He also stressed the importance of properly briefing incoming central paramilitary forces (CPMF) to ensure they are well-informed about their roles and responsibilities.

The meeting reviewed security measures at the Bhagawati Nagar reception centre, base camps, and lodgement centres along the Yatra route. Discussions focused on deployment plans, intelligence coordination, surveillance, access control measures, convoy security, traffic management, and emergency response preparedness to guarantee a safe and smooth pilgrimage.

The spokesperson added that the comprehensive security strategy aims to address all potential challenges, ensuring the safety of pilgrims and the smooth conduct of the Yatra. The IGP's emphasis on operational readiness underscores the commitment to a secure and successful event.
