Jammu and Kashmir Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Directorate of Census Operations to promote population enumeration awareness across the region. The agreement was formalized in Jammu on Thursday.
Key Partnership Details
Under the MoU, J&K Bank will display census awareness material at its branches, customer service areas, and other public-facing locations. The initiative aims to educate citizens about the importance of participating in the upcoming census, which is scheduled for 2027.
According to a bank spokesperson, the partnership leverages the bank's extensive network to reach a wide audience. The bank operates over 1,000 branches across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Impact and Significance
This collaboration is part of a broader effort to ensure accurate and complete population enumeration. The census provides critical data for policy-making, resource allocation, and development planning.
Officials emphasized that public awareness is key to a successful census. The campaign will include information on digital census methods, which are being adopted for the first time in India.
