Kochi: District collector G Priyanka has issued a directive mandating that establishments employing 50 or more workers must provide crèche facilities. The order was announced during a special meeting convened on Monday to discuss the implementation of provisions under the Maternity Benefit Act.
Compliance with the Law
The collector emphasized that employers and organizations must ensure full compliance with the law, which aims to boost women's participation in the workforce while guaranteeing the safety and care of their children. Under the Maternity Benefit Act, workplaces with more than 50 employees are required to offer crèche facilities.
Action Against Non-Compliance
Collector G Priyanka warned that strict action would be initiated against institutions that fail to make the mandated arrangements. The meeting reviewed measures to improve childcare support and ensure better working conditions for women employees across the district.
