Residents of Emaar Gomti Greens in Lucknow filed a complaint at the Sushant Golf City police station on Tuesday, alleging unauthorised commercial use of the society clubhouse and intimidation during a protest. The Residents Welfare Association (RWA) stated that the clubhouse, which was advertised as a private amenity at the time of flat sales, was later sold by the builder to a third party. Despite multiple discussions with the builder and complaints to the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), the issue remains unresolved.
Allegations of Disturbance and Intimidation
The RWA claimed that the clubhouse is being booked for events involving outsiders, featuring late-night music, overcrowding, and alcohol consumption. Residents reported that these activities disturb children, women, and elderly residents. On Monday evening, around 100 residents staged a protest outside the society. At approximately 8:30 PM, the clubhouse owner and his son allegedly arrived in a car in an inebriated state and attempted to drive towards the protesters. They reportedly abused residents, including women, and issued threats.
Demand for Action
RWA president Raj Kishore Rakesh demanded a medical examination to verify alcohol consumption and the registration of a case against both individuals. The builder declined to comment when contacted. LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar stated that the authority is examining the claims made by both the RWA and the builder.
This incident highlights ongoing tensions between residents and property management over the misuse of common amenities, raising concerns about safety and legal compliance.
