Man Rescued from Well After Two Days in Karur

A 53-year-old man was rescued by fire and rescue personnel from a well in Karur district on Monday, after he claimed to have fallen into it two days earlier. The incident took place at a coconut grove in Nallampalayam village near Kattur, owned by Palanisamy.

Discovery and Rescue Operation

Gopi, a worker at the grove, heard cries for help emanating from a well on the premises. Upon looking inside, he observed a man struggling in the water, clinging to a water-pumping pipe. Gopi immediately alerted the Karur fire and rescue services station.

A 10-member team from the station, led by Assistant District Officer Thirumurugan, rushed to the location in two fire tenders. Utilizing ropes and safety nets, the team successfully extracted the man alive from the well.

When asked how he managed to survive inside the well for nearly two days, Sugavanam stated that he himself did not know. He was subsequently taken to the Vangal government hospital for medical treatment and later handed over to his relatives.
