Police in Idukki have recorded the statement of Dhanya Ganesan, a ward member of Mankulam grama panchayat who was reported missing and later discovered in an exhausted condition inside the toilet of an abandoned building.
Discovery and Hospitalization
Ganesan, representing the fourth ward, was found on Monday afternoon in a dilapidated toilet of an unoccupied house at Chikkanamkudy in Mankulam. She was immediately admitted to Adimali taluk hospital for treatment.
Statement Recorded
Although police initially attempted to record her statement in the evening, it was postponed due to her poor health condition. Her statement was finally recorded on Tuesday. According to police, Ganesan stated that she had left home on her own following a family dispute last Wednesday. She reportedly spent time in rocky forest areas and used to visit her sister's house at night for food. She also mentioned that she had reached the abandoned house during this period.
Investigation Ongoing
However, Adimali police officers said that doubts remain regarding her statement and further investigation is underway. Ganesan was produced before the court and has been shifted to a shelter home until her health condition improves.
