Aizawl: Mizoram has emerged as the leader in the digitisation of enumeration forms during the ongoing third phase of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls among 16 states and 3 union territories. The state has completed 68.05% of the process, far ahead of Manipur, which has achieved only 27.11%, according to state election officials on Friday.
District Performance
The state's Khawzawl district leads with 96.16% digitisation, followed by Champhai at 92.57% and Serchhip at 90.93%, officials said. However, the most populous Aizawl district has managed only 51.95% digitisation as of 4 pm on Friday.
Form Distribution
Officials added that 99.90% of enrolment form distribution has been completed across the state by 1,301 Block Level Officers (BLOs) entrusted with the enumeration process. Of the 11 districts, Champhai, Serchhip, and Hnahthial have completed distribution, while Lunglei, Siaha, and Khawzawl have reached 99.99% completion. Four districts have completed over 90% of the task, with only Mamit district, bordering Bangladesh and Tripura, slightly lagging behind at 95.84%, officials said.
Media Conference
Meanwhile, state and district media nodal officers, led by joint chief electoral officer Ethel Rothangpuii, participated in the Election Commission of India (ECI) media and communication conference held at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), New Delhi. The conference was graced by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Election Commissioner Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, and Election Commissioner Vivek Joshi.
