In a bid to safeguard the renowned pleasant climate of Mysuru and to instil a stronger sense of civic responsibility among the younger generation, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has announced a creative competition. The initiative, an Environmental Reels contest, is specifically targeted at college students across the city.
Platform for Youth and Creativity
The competition is designed as a dynamic platform where students can channel their creativity towards a vital public cause. The overarching goal is to unite the community in an effort to elevate Mysuru to the top position as the cleanest city in India. By leveraging the popular short-video reel format, the MCC aims to make the message of environmental conservation both engaging and shareable.
Participants are encouraged to produce original reels focusing on one of four critical environmental themes. These key topics are: 'Waste segregation at the source,' ‘Raising awareness among those littering in public places,' ‘Banning single-use plastics,' and ‘Water reuse.' Each theme addresses a pressing local concern that requires public cooperation.
Contest Rules and Guidelines
The organisers have laid down specific rules to ensure the contest runs smoothly. The most crucial guideline is that the duration of each reel must not exceed one minute. Furthermore, the content must be constructive and must not include any material that could harm or promote any individual, organisation, political party, caste, or religion.
The MCC has stated that all decisions made by the competition's organisers will be considered final. No appeals or discussions regarding the results will be entertained after the judging is complete.
Attractive Prizes and Recognition
To motivate high-quality participation, the civic body is offering attractive cash awards for the best entries. The prize structure is as follows:
- First Prize: ₹5,000
- Second Prize: ₹3,000
- Third Prize: ₹2,000
Beyond the cash rewards, the top 10 reels will be featured in a special exhibition organised by the MCC, giving creators widespread recognition. Additionally, as a token of appreciation, every participant will receive a certificate from the city corporation.
Students interested in entering the competition must submit their reels via WhatsApp to the number 99723 91577. The deadline for submissions is December 30, 2025, as confirmed in an official release from the MCC Commissioner.
This innovative approach combines youth engagement with digital media to tackle environmental challenges, marking a significant step in Mysuru's ongoing journey towards sustainable urban living and cleanliness.
