Vijayawada: After identifying nearly 150 drug-prone hotspots under its anti-narcotics campaign, NTR police are preparing the next phase of their crackdown with a stronger focus on educational institutions and youth awareness programmes.
Next Phase of Anti-Narcotics Drive
Police officials said the proposed “Drugs Pai Dandayatra 3.0” initiative is expected to build on the measures taken under the previous phase, which involved surveillance of vulnerable locations, awareness campaigns and enforcement action against drug-related activities.
Officials indicated that the upcoming phase may include intensified monitoring around schools and colleges, surprise inspections, awareness programmes and other preventive measures aimed at keeping campuses drug-free. The initiative is also expected to involve coordination with educational institutions and parents to strengthen anti-drug awareness among students.
Hotspots Identified
The move comes after authorities identified several drug-prone hotspots across NTR district during the earlier phase of the campaign. Police have been conducting regular checks and awareness drives as part of efforts to curb narcotics abuse and prevent youth from falling prey to substance abuse.
Officials said details of the next phase are being finalised and that the focus would remain on both enforcement and prevention. They added that educational institutions play a key role in creating awareness and helping identify students who may require counselling and support.
