The Municipal Corporation of Panchkula on Thursday initiated a special sanitation drive covering the stretch from the Sector-20 cremation ground to Kundi village. This move aims to address persistent issues of waste accumulation, debris, and illegal dumping that have plagued the area for an extended period.
Coordinated Clean-Up Efforts
Municipal Commissioner Vinay Kumar highlighted that the targeted stretch, situated near the interstate border, has been a recurring hotspot for waste dumping, including materials originating from neighboring Punjab. To tackle this, multiple agencies, including the Municipal Corporation and the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), are now collaborating to find a long-term solution.
Monitoring and Public Participation
Kumar further stated that civic teams are conducting regular monitoring of waste collection, street sweeping, and drain cleaning. However, he noted that public participation remains below the desired level. He urged residents to report any instances of illegal dumping and cooperate with authorities to prevent the recurrence of such issues.
The drive underscores the MC's commitment to improving sanitation and cleanliness in the region, with a focus on sustainable waste management practices.
