Jaisalmer: An air raid rehearsal, including a blackout and mock drill, will be conducted on Friday at district headquarters across Rajasthan, including border districts Jaisalmer and Barmer, as per directions from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Civil defence and other departments have been asked to ensure adequate preparations and treat the exercise with seriousness and realism.

Preparatory Meeting in Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer district collector Anupama Jorwal reviewed preparations for the drill at a meeting held Thursday at the collectorate. The meeting was also attended by superintendent of police Abhishek Shivhare and officials from various departments. She said the state-wide drill on April 24 will begin with a two-minute air raid warning siren. Essential services such as hospitals and fire brigades will remain operational throughout the exercise.

During the meeting, officials were given necessary guidelines regarding the rehearsal and asked to ensure adequate preparations. Jorwal stated that the drill aims to assess emergency response systems and inter-departmental coordination and appealed to residents not to panic, as the exercise is a routine preparedness measure. Barmer Drill Details

In Barmer, additional district collector Rajendra Singh Rajawat said the drill will simulate emergency scenarios such as drone attacks, bomb blasts and fire incidents. Rescue teams will rehearse evacuation, first aid and CPR, and transportation of the injured to hospitals.

He added that the exercise will also test coordination among local departments through various emergency operations including firefighting, search and rescue operations, and traffic and crowd management. The drill will conclude with a two-minute all-clear siren.

The state-wide drill is part of a routine preparedness measure to enhance readiness for potential emergencies. Authorities have urged residents to remain calm and cooperate during the exercise.
