A 54-year-old security guard succumbed to injuries during treatment after the auto-rickshaw he was traveling in overturned following a collision with a speeding car near Sector 42/27 Chowk on Golf Course Road on Tuesday afternoon.
Victim Identified
The deceased, Bijendra Singh, had been residing with his family in DLF Phase 1 for the past four years. He worked as a security guard at a residence in DLF Aralia, Sector 42.
Accident Details
According to a complaint filed by his son, Ritik Singh, the accident occurred around 2pm when Bijendra was traveling in an auto-rickshaw from Sikandarpur towards Aralia. Near the U-turn before Sector 42/27 Chowk, a speeding car allegedly overtook the auto-rickshaw and suddenly took a U-turn, colliding with it and causing the vehicle to overturn. The driver fled the scene after the crash.
Injuries and Treatment
Police reported that multiple passengers in the auto-rickshaw sustained injuries. Bijendra and another injured passenger were taken to a private hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later shifted to Paras Hospital, where he died during treatment.
Investigation Underway
A forensic team visited the accident site, and CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify the accused driver. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. The investigation is ongoing.
