In a significant move to empower young students with crucial life skills, the in-charge Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bagaha, Nirmala Kumari, conducted a special awareness session at a government girls' school in West Champaran district on Thursday. The interactive programme, held in a tribal-dominated area, focused on modern safety challenges, including digital threats and emergency protocols.
Empowering Students at the India-Nepal Border
Nirmala Kumari visited the Government Middle School in Dhagarhia, located within the Champapur Gonauli panchayat. This region is notably tribal-dominated and sits near the sensitive India-Nepal border. The SP's visit and engagement visibly delighted the attending students, creating an atmosphere of eager learning and interaction.
Core Message: Safety, Discipline, and Positive Thinking
During her session, SP Kumari outlined the programme's primary aim: to enhance awareness about personal safety, instil strong life values, and guide children in setting meaningful future goals. She addressed the pervasive use of technology, noting that as mobile phones and social media consume significant time in every household, awareness is the first line of defence.
"It is crucial to raise awareness so they can stay safe from cyberfraud," emphasised Kumari. She detailed the functions of emergency service numbers, specifically Dial 112 for immediate police assistance and Dial 1930 for reporting cyber fraud. The officer encouraged students to be vigilant about their safety and to use these services without hesitation if needed.
Holistic Guidance for Rural Youth
Beyond cyber safety, SP Nirmala Kumari's mentorship covered a broad spectrum of essential topics. She is consistently motivating rural students on subjects like self-defence techniques, navigating social challenges, and the undeniable importance of education. Her advice to the girls was clear and actionable: work hard, maintain discipline, and cultivate a positive mindset.
"I encourage them to work hard and maintain discipline while also emphasising the importance of positive thinking as the key to success in life," she stated. This holistic approach underscores the police department's evolving role in community building and proactive citizen education, especially in remote and tribal regions.
