Ludhiana: In a concerted effort to expedite the mapping of remaining voters under a pre-SIR drive, special camps were organized on Sunday at all 2,927 polling booths across every assembly constituency in the district. These camps were conducted by booth level officers (BLOs) following directives from the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab.
Inspections and Oversight
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) and Additional Electoral Officer Poonam Singh carried out inspections at several polling booths across various assembly constituencies to verify the presence of BLOs and review the ongoing voter mapping work. She visited booths number 2, 3, and 4 under Ludhiana Central at Kamla Lohtia Sanatan Dharam College near Bajwa Nagar. Additionally, she inspected Booth Nos. 52, 53, 54, 55, and 56 under Ludhiana West at Government Elementary School No. 5, College Road, Civil Lines. She also visited Booth Nos. 132, 133, 134, 135, and 136 under Ludhiana North constituency at Government High School, Kundanpuri. According to government sources, all booth level officers were found present at these booths.
Directions to Enhance Voter Mapping
The Additional Deputy Commissioner instructed BLOs to intensify their voter mapping efforts and expand outreach to voters. Furthermore, orders were issued to share the list of un-mapped voters with Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and representatives of local political parties. BLAs appointed by various political parties and local councillors were also present at the camps, in compliance with the Election Commission of India's instructions.
The Additional District Electoral Officer urged the Booth Level Agents and councillors to assist the booth level officers in mapping the un-mapped voters. This collaborative approach aims to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls.
