A tragic road accident occurred near village Aladadpur on Achra Road in the Kotwali area of Kanpur on Saturday evening, resulting in the deaths of two women and injuries to four others. According to police, a speeding SUV collided with an e-rickshaw, causing the SUV to veer out of control and plunge into a roadside field.
Details of the Incident
The e-rickshaw was being driven by Haseen (54), a resident of Pitoura village. Among the passengers was Devwati (50) from village Pilkhana under Thana Merapur area. She was returning home with her granddaughter Anshika (11) after dropping her daughter Renu at village Chilauli. Also traveling in the e-rickshaw were Sudha (50), her daughter Lovely (20), and Rajat (27). Lovely and Sudha had come to Kaimganj for some work and were on their way back.
Police stated that near village Aladadpur, a speeding SUV coming from the direction of Achra rammed into the e-rickshaw. The impact was so severe that the SUV went out of control and ended up in a field on the roadside.
Casualties and Injuries
Devwati and Sudha died on the spot, while all other e-rickshaw occupants sustained injuries. The injured were taken to CHC Kaimganj and later referred to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for further treatment.
Investigation Underway
Following the incident, three occupants of the SUV, including the driver, fled the scene. Upon receiving information, Circle Officer Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi and inspector-in-charge Vinod Kumar Shukla arrived at the spot. Police sent both bodies for post-mortem examination and initiated an investigation. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
