Chennai: The Tambaram Corporation has allocated ₹48 lakh to install 385 new LED street lights across Selaiyur, which falls under Zone 5 of the Tambaram Corporation. Corporation officials stated that the project aims to improve visibility and safety for residents in the area.
Details of the Project
As part of the plan, a total of 106 LED lights of 40 watts, 190 lights of 70 watts, and 89 lights of 90 watts will be installed. These lights will be mounted on new poles erected by the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation along newly formed roads and developing residential layouts in the region.
Residents Welcome the Move
Residents have welcomed the initiative, noting that the lack of sufficient streetlights in interior areas of Selaiyur has raised safety concerns, particularly for women and children. A resident commented, “Localities such as Noothencheri, Vengaivasal, and several interior stretches of the locality need more street lights.”
This development is expected to significantly enhance nighttime visibility and security in the area.
