Tamil Nadu Sanitary Workers Welfare Board Mandates Safety Gear in Trichy
Thippampatti V Aruchamy, chairman of the Tamil Nadu Sanitary Workers Welfare Board, has issued a directive requiring all sanitary workers in Trichy to wear gloves and appropriate safety gear while on duty. This announcement came during his review of the implementation of state government welfare schemes for sanitary workers employed by the Trichy corporation.
Distribution of Smart Cards and Welfare Aid
During his visit, Aruchamy distributed smart cards to 30 beneficiaries and provided welfare aid totaling more than Rs 5 lakh to sanitary workers. He emphasized the importance of these initiatives in supporting the workforce.
"More than 5,000 beneficiary cards have been distributed to sanitary workers in Trichy district," Aruchamy stated. "Welfare aid exceeding Rs 3 crore is currently being disbursed to workers across the district."
Inspection of Centralized Kitchen Operations
In the early hours, around 4 a.m., Aruchamy inspected the breakfast preparation work at the centralized kitchen that serves 3,243 sanitary workers. This visit highlighted the board's commitment to ensuring the well-being of workers beyond just financial aid.
Meeting to Assess Welfare Scheme Progress
Aruchamy chaired a meeting at the Trichy corporation's main office to evaluate the disbursal of wages and the progress of various welfare schemes. Key schemes discussed included:
- Education loans for workers and their family members
- Old age pension benefits
- Accidental death benefits
The meeting aimed to assess the effectiveness of these programs and identify areas for improvement to better support sanitary workers and their families.
