In a tragic incident in Bareilly's Tilmas village, three children lost their lives after drowning in a pond on Sunday. A fourth child managed to survive and alert others.
Incident Details
The four children, all residents of the same area, had gone to a roadside pond located about one kilometer from their village around 3 p.m. According to reports, three of them—Trivendra (10), Ansh (8), and Ayush (9)—ventured into a deeper part of the pond and drowned. Trivendra's younger brother, Dev (8), who was also with them, managed to escape the water and raised an alarm.
Rescue and Aftermath
Hearing the commotion, the pond's owner, Raju, rushed to the spot and pulled the children out of the water. Ayush and Ansh were found dead at the scene. Trivendra was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Dev, the survivor, was unharmed.
Bareilly Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya confirmed the incident, stating, "On receiving information, the SHO of Meerganj, along with police personnel, reached the spot and conducted an inquiry. All the children were from farming families. Their families have refused postmortem."
Background
The victims belonged to farming families in the region. Authorities have initiated an investigation, but the families have declined autopsies. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the dangers of unsupervised swimming in rural ponds.
