A tragic road accident in Ramanathapuram district claimed the lives of three individuals on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as S Ladasamy, 60, his daughter P Panchavarnam, 25, and her husband G Pullani, 30. The incident occurred near the Kombuthi road junction.
According to police reports, Ladasamy was riding a two-wheeler with his daughter and son-in-law from Thiruppullani to Ervadi. While attempting to cross the road near the Kombuthi junction, a car traveling from Ervadi Dargah towards Keelakarai collided with their vehicle. The impact was severe, throwing all three occupants off the bike. They succumbed to their injuries on the spot.
Following the accident, the Ervadi Dargah police arrived at the scene and sent the bodies to the Ramanathapuram Government Medical College Hospital for postmortem examinations. A case has been registered against the car driver, identified as Mansoor Ali, 42, a resident of Karnataka. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the collision.
This incident highlights the dangers on rural roads and the need for increased vigilance among drivers. Local authorities have urged commuters to exercise caution while navigating junctions and to adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies.
