Trichy Police Hold Road Safety and Anti-Drug Awareness at School

Trichy: The city police conducted a special awareness programme at Bishop Heber Higher Secondary School in Trichy on Thursday, aimed at educating students about the importance of road safety and the dangers of drug abuse.

Officials Lead the Event

Assistant commissioners V Seetharaman (law and order) and V Manimaran (traffic) spearheaded the initiative. Addressing the students, Manimaran warned them against driving motorcycles as they are underage. He advised them to wait until they turn 18 before riding. He further urged that when driving with a valid license, students must strictly adhere to road safety rules, including wearing helmets and avoiding triple riding. He cautioned that vehicles of underage riders would be seized, and their parents or guardians would face legal action.

Focus on Drug Abuse Prevention

Seetharaman advised students to stay away from all forms of drug abuse and avoid using tobacco products. He explained the harmful effects of such substances and outlined the strict legal measures the police would take against anyone involved in smuggling, possessing, distributing, or selling these items.
