A tragic road accident on the Calangute-Baga road early Sunday morning claimed the lives of two individuals and left two others injured. The incident involved a collision between two scooters, each carrying a pillion rider. According to the Calangute police, one person died at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries later in the day.

Details of the Accident

The accident occurred around 6 am on the busy stretch connecting Calangute and Baga, popular tourist destinations in North Goa. All four individuals were employed in local hotels. Anil Ughrejiya (25), a resident of Candolim and native of Gujarat, died instantly upon impact. Arun Gudachi (28), a resident of Guirim and native of Rajasthan, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died. The two other injured persons, whose identities have not been disclosed, are currently receiving treatment at the Goa Medical College (GMC).

Police Investigation

The Calangute police reported that the collision was extremely severe, resulting in fatal injuries to two people and serious injuries to two others. Preliminary inquiries suggest that excessive speed and loss of control may have contributed to the crash. Authorities have registered a case of accidental death and are conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident.
