In a disturbing development following the minor girl rape case at the Kalyan Railway Yard, two separate incidents of sexual assault on 16-year-old girls have emerged in Dombivli. Both crimes were discovered only after the victims became pregnant, sending shockwaves through the twin cities of Kalyan and Dombivli and raising serious concerns about the safety of young girls.
First Incident: Videographer Exploits Coaching Class Acquaintance
The first incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Ramnagar Police Station. The accused, identified as Shubham Saroj, a 24-year-old videographer and video editor, was arrested after the victim's family filed a formal complaint on Saturday evening. According to police, Saroj and the victim had known each other for two years, attending the same coaching classes. The accused allegedly used this familiarity to build trust and then lured the minor into a trap, repeatedly assaulting her.
Senior Police Inspector Ganesh Juwadwad of Ramnagar Police Station stated, "The accused and the victim knew each other through coaching classes. He exploited this familiarity to trap and repeatedly assault her." The case came to light only after the minor became pregnant, prompting the family to lodge a complaint.
Second Incident: Accused Fled to Uttar Pradesh
The second case was registered under the Manpada Police Station. The 16-year-old victim was allegedly assaulted by 23-year-old Kaju Nishad. After committing the crime, Nishad fled Maharashtra to evade arrest and hid in his native village in Uttar Pradesh. The ordeal came to light a week ago when the victim’s family noticed physical changes and discovered her pregnancy. Shocked, the family immediately approached the police.
A senior police officer explained, "Using technical surveillance and local intelligence, our team tracked Nishad to his hideout in Uttar Pradesh. He was arrested, brought back to Dombivli, and has been remanded to police custody." Further investigation is underway.
Legal Action and Remand
Saroj was produced before a Kalyan court, which remanded him to police custody until May 21. Both Nishad and Saroj have been booked under stringent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police are conducting further investigations in both cases.
