The fire broke out from Savithri's house at around 1:42 am on Tuesday. It is suspected that a short circuit might have caused the accident. Within minutes, two cylinders exploded, and the fire spread to the entire house. Unable to escape from the raging flames, Savithri and Sigapulamma were charred to death. Their bodies were badly burnt.

Damage and response

The fire also spread to the adjacent house, which was also burnt. However, no casualties were reported from that house as it was unoccupied at the time of the accident. Police and fire officials continue to investigate the incident.
