Noida: Two women lost their lives and two men sustained injuries in separate road accidents reported in Gautam Budh Nagar district. The police have arrested a driver in connection with one incident, while investigations are underway in the other.
First Incident: College Student Dies in Truck Collision
In the first accident, a college student died after a truck collided with the motorcycle she was riding on near the LG roundabout in Greater Noida on Thursday. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. when Chandan Barnwal and Chandni Kumari Gupta were returning home after appearing for their MBA second-semester examination. Chandni, a student of GL Bajaj Institute, was riding pillion. She was the daughter of the late Raju Prasad Gupta. According to police, Chandni died on the spot due to severe injuries, while Chandan suffered injuries and was admitted to Kailash Hospital for treatment.
The motorcycle was hit by a truck bearing registration number HR55AT5670. Officials confirmed that the driver, identified as Upendra Prasad Yadav, a resident of Nawada district in Bihar, has been taken into custody.
Second Incident: Woman Dies in Car Hit-and-Run
In another incident, which took place in the Sector 127 underpass area in Noida, a woman died after a car allegedly rammed a motorcycle from behind. The accident occurred on May 19, but an FIR was registered on Thursday following a complaint lodged by the injured biker.
According to police, Vishal, a resident of Bheemathikri village in Amroha who currently lives in Sector 44, was traveling with his maternal aunt Reena on a motorcycle towards Sector 128 when the accident occurred. The complainant alleged that the car driver was driving rashly and at high speed. Both Vishal and Reena fell onto the road and sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Reena dead. Vishal's condition is reported to be out of danger.
A senior officer at Sector 126 police station stated that a case has been registered against the unidentified car driver. Police teams are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the accused vehicle and driver.
