A 60-year-old woman was killed in a land dispute at Chakroshan village under Rajaun police station in Banka district on Friday night. The elderly woman, identified as Bindeshwari Devi, was attacked with a sharp weapon while she was asleep at her home and died on the spot.
Initial Investigation Points to Land Partition Dispute
According to police, preliminary investigation suggests that the murder was a result of a dispute over land partition. Three members of the family have been taken into custody for questioning. Rajaun Station House Officer (SHO) Rajratan confirmed that the deceased's son Gopal Yadav, the victim's husband Sheru Yadav, and daughter-in-law Ruby Devi have been detained for interrogation.
Background of the Dispute
Relatives revealed that Bindeshwari Devi had five sons, one of whom had already passed away. She had earlier distributed 3 kattha of land each among her sons but had retained 6 kattha for herself. The dispute allegedly arose due to this remaining property. The victim's family members are being questioned to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal attack.
