Worker Buried in Well Collapse in Udupi's Malpe Area

Udupi: A tragic incident occurred in Madhvanagar, Uddinahithlu near Malpe, on Friday when a worker was buried alive after a landslide during well construction. The victim, identified as Ramesh, 25, was part of a five-member labour team brought from Koppala by Prabhat Shetty, a resident of Sanoor in Karkala.

Details of the Incident

The well construction was underway at the property of Chethan in Madhvanagar. Soil removal had begun on Thursday, and on Friday around 5 pm, Ramesh was working inside the well when the soil suddenly collapsed, burying him completely.

Rescue Operations

Upon receiving information, police, fire and emergency department personnel, and local residents launched an emergency operation. Despite their efforts, Ramesh could not be saved. The body was recovered after extensive digging.
