In a major crackdown on illegal constructions, the Alwar Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) on Thursday sealed ten hotels and resorts operating without permission around the ecologically sensitive Siliserh Lake area. The decisive action, which involved the use of bulldozers to demolish encroachments, underscores a firm stance against violations in the lake's flow zone.
Joint Operation Targets Illegal Structures
The drive was carried out by a joint team comprising officials from the UIT, local police, and the civil administration. The operation began with the sealing of the Desi Thath hotel, situated directly on the bank of Siliserh Lake. Following this, a guard room built near one of the hotel's gates was razed to the ground. The action then extended to other prominent establishments, including Hotel Medhavan, The Jungle Leap, Naman Bagh, and Fatehgarh Farm hotel resorts.
To preempt any potential law and order issues and ensure a smooth process, a substantial police force was deployed alongside the UIT squad. The anti-encroachment action was still ongoing into the evening hours when initial reports were filed.
Notices Ignored, Warnings Issued
Manvendra Jaiswal, the in-charge of UIT's anti-encroachment squad, stated that all ten hotels were deemed illegal constructions by the authority. He clarified that the hotel operators had been served notices on two separate occasions, but received no response from them. Jaiswal issued a stern warning, noting that if any hotel operator attempts to remove the official seals, criminal cases will be promptly registered against them.
Protecting the Lake's Ecosystem
This large-scale operation highlights the administration's focus on protecting the Siliserh Lake environment from unauthorized commercial activity. Constructions in the lake's flow area and its surroundings can severely impact water drainage, increase pollution, and damage the local ecosystem. The use of bulldozers to demolish certain encroachments signals a zero-tolerance approach towards such violations.
The sealing of these ten establishments serves as a clear message to other property owners in the region to adhere to land-use norms and obtain necessary permissions.
