Karnataka's government is implementing a massive security blanket for the upcoming winter session of the state legislature, with plans to deploy more than 6,000 police personnel. The extensive security preparations were finalized during a high-level review meeting.
High-Level Security Review
Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara, who also holds the home portfolio, personally chaired the crucial meeting to assess the security blueprint. The meeting included the Police Commissioners of Belagavi and Hubballi-Dharwad, along with Superintendents of Police from all districts falling under the Northern Range. The primary objective was to ensure all arrangements are robust and comprehensive for the smooth conduct of the legislative session.
Unprecedented Police Deployment
The centerpiece of the security plan is the deployment of over 6,000 police officers and personnel. This significant force will be tasked with maintaining law and order, managing traffic, and providing security to legislators, officials, and the public in and around the session venue in Belagavi. The meeting, held on 27 November 2025, focused on coordinating efforts across different districts to create a seamless security apparatus.
Ensuring a Smooth Legislative Process
Such a large-scale security mobilization is standard protocol for major political events, especially those held outside the state capital. The presence of top police officials from the Northern Range indicates a coordinated, multi-district approach to security. The state government aims to preempt any potential disruptions, ensuring that the winter session can proceed without any security-related incidents, allowing lawmakers to focus on legislative business.
