Akhilesh Yadav Condemns BJP Government for Alleged Insult to Shankaracharya

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has issued a strong call to the public, urging them to "stand up" for the dignity of Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati. During his visits to Unnao and Kanpur on Wednesday, Yadav accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of orchestrating an insult against the revered seer.

Allegations of Police Misconduct and Fabricated Cases

Speaking to media representatives, Akhilesh Yadav detailed the incident, claiming that Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand was prevented from taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam and was physically pushed by police personnel. He further alleged that accompanying priests were beaten and manhandled during the altercation.

Yadav asserted that a "false case" was registered against the seer by an individual linked to the BJP. "Shankaracharya is revered by all. It is time people must rise to protect his honour," he declared, accusing the BJP of utilizing government officials to suppress dissent and file fabricated cases against political opponents.

Political Alliances and Social Justice Agenda

On the topic of political alliances, Akhilesh Yadav reiterated that the Samajwadi Party remains a committed member of the INDIA bloc alongside the Congress. He emphasized that the Pichhda, Dalit, and Alpsankhyak (PDA) communities would unite to establish a regime firmly rooted in principles of social justice.

Criticism of BJP Policies and Governance

Targeting the BJP over its stance on slaughterhouses, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister alleged that the party has facilitated large-scale abattoir operations in Haryana while projecting a contradictory image in other regions. He also criticized the closure of a milk plant established during the Samajwadi Party's tenure in Kannauj, alleging widespread corruption within cow welfare schemes.

Raising significant concerns over electoral integrity, Yadav pointed to large-scale discrepancies between voter lists prepared by the panchayati raj department and those compiled by the Election Commission. Regarding recent income tax raids at BSP MLA Uma Shankar Singh's residence, he labeled the actions as selective and politically motivated.

Broader Accusations and Future Promises

Akhilesh Yadav extended his criticism, accusing the BJP government of "insulting" multiple sections of society, including farmers and the armed forces. He referenced a recent demolition incident in Kanpur to underscore his allegations of governmental overreach.

Looking ahead, Yadav outlined the Samajwadi Party's vision if voted into office. He promised to boost industrial growth in Kanpur, ensure comprehensive Ganga cleaning initiatives, provide cheaper electricity, support local industries, and create substantial job opportunities across the state.
