Kanpur Witnesses Grand Observance of Ambedkar Jayanti

The city of Kanpur came alive with commemorative events marking the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, with multiple organizations and institutions paying rich tributes to the architect of the Indian Constitution.

Bhartiya Dalit Panther Leads Rally and Felicitation Ceremony

The Bhartiya Dalit Panther held a significant function at Macrobert Ganj Park, drawing a large gathering of followers who assembled to honor Babasaheb Ambedkar. According to the organization's state president, Dhani Ram Baudh, an evening rally commenced from Macrobert Ganj and traversed through several prominent localities including Gwaltoli, Nala Road, Arya Nagar, Swarup Nagar, Ghantaghar, Moti Jheel, and others, culminating at Phool Bagh near Nana Rao Park.

During this event, a special highlight was the felicitation of 14 individuals with the prestigious “Dr Ambedkar Ratna Samman.” Each awardee was presented with a ceremonial ‘patka’ and an insignia in recognition of their contributions to society, reflecting the values championed by Dr. Ambedkar.

RSS and Academic Institutions Join in Homage

Parallelly, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) also observed Ambedkar Jayanti. A delegation led by its All India Physical Education head, Jagdish Prasad, along with members Bhawani Bheekh Tiwari and Vivek Sachan, garlanded the statue of Dr. Ambedkar at Company Bagh crossing, underscoring the widespread respect for his legacy.

At Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJM University), the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences organized a dedicated programme to commemorate the occasion. Vice-chancellor Prof. Vinay Pathak, accompanied by faculty members, actively participated in the tribute ceremony, highlighting the academic community's engagement with Ambedkar's ideals.

District Administration Emphasizes Constitutional Values and Service

District magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh led the administrative homage by garlanding Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait at the Collectorate. In an address to officials, he eloquently described Dr. Ambedkar as a great thinker, jurist, and social reformer, praising the enduring strength of the Indian Constitution crafted under his visionary leadership.

Singh emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar viewed education as the most powerful tool for social transformation, noting that his life continues to inspire generations with messages of equality, justice, and empowerment through learning. He urged officials to uphold transparency, sensitivity, and a service-oriented approach in their duties, stating that treating the public, especially the underprivileged, with dignity and empathy would be the truest tribute to Babasaheb.

The event was attended by senior administrative officials, including the ADM (Finance and Revenue), judicial and land acquisition officers, city magistrate, and other Collectorate staff, demonstrating a collective commitment to Ambedkar's principles.
