Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Executes Major Demolition Drive in Narol Area

The estate TDO department of the South Zone of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) conducted a significant demolition operation on Wednesday. This action was taken to facilitate the opening of an 18-meter-wide road as part of Town Planning Scheme 60 in the Narol locality of Ahmedabad.

Structures Removed and Land Cleared

During the drive, a total of 24 structures were demolished, including 20 residential houses and four commercial shops. These buildings were identified as obstructions to the planned road alignment. Additionally, other encroachments such as platforms within the designated road area were also removed.

The clearance operation resulted in the freeing up of 3,510 square meters of land. This enabled the opening of a 195-meter-long stretch of road, which is expected to improve connectivity and traffic flow in the area.

Notice Issuance and Non-Compliance

Prior to the demolition, the AMC had issued formal notices to the occupants of the illegal structures. These notices directed them to voluntarily remove the encroachments. However, due to non-compliance from the occupants, the corporation proceeded with the demolition on Wednesday.

The operation was carried out in the presence of police personnel to ensure law and order. This step underscores the AMC's commitment to enforcing urban planning regulations and removing illegal constructions that hinder development projects.

The implementation of Town Planning Scheme 60 is part of broader efforts to enhance infrastructure and urban planning in Ahmedabad. Such drives are crucial for planned city development and addressing issues related to unauthorized constructions.
