Andhra Pradesh Government Finalizes Elaborate Preparations for Chandanotsavam Festival

State Endowment Department Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy has confirmed that detailed plans and robust arrangements are being implemented for the upcoming Chandanotsavam festival scheduled for April 20. The preparations strictly follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) established by the Andhra Pradesh government to ensure safety and efficiency.

Ministerial Oversight and Progress Review

Following a comprehensive review meeting at the collectorate on Saturday, Minister Ramanarayana Reddy, alongside Visakhapatnam District In-charge Minister Dola Sribala Veeranjaneya Swamy, outlined the key organizational aspects of the festival. The state government has established a dedicated subcommittee comprising three ministers specifically tasked with monitoring major festivals across Andhra Pradesh to maintain consistency and quality.

During the meeting with officials, the in-charge minister and Home Minister V Anitha revealed that approximately 75% to 80% of the festival arrangements have already been completed. They provided assurances that all remaining works would be finalized by April 15, well ahead of the festival date.

Expected Devotee Turnout and Special Arrangements

Temple management authorities anticipate an enormous turnout of around two lakh (200,000) devotees seeking nijarupa darshanam on the festival day. To accommodate this massive crowd while maintaining order, several innovative measures have been implemented.

In the early morning hours of April 20, the family of hereditary trustee and Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju will receive the first ceremonial darshan, followed by the traditional offering of silk garments with full government honors.

Special provisions have been made for vulnerable groups, including dedicated darshan slots specifically reserved for disabled and elderly devotees to ensure their comfort and accessibility.

Ticketing System and Crowd Management

All darshan tickets will be issued through a carefully organized slot system, with devotees strongly advised to arrive according to their designated time slots to prevent overcrowding. Emphasizing digital convenience, 70% to 80% of tickets will be issued online as per direct orders from the Chief Minister.

The physical queue system has been strategically organized into five distinct sections, each designed to accommodate approximately 21,000 devotees. Advanced crowd control measures will be implemented through designated holding areas to manage flow and prevent bottlenecks.

QR code technology will be extensively utilized on both tickets and vehicle passes, providing devotees with easy access to parking information and guidance throughout the festival grounds. Protocol and VIP tickets will be issued under the direct supervision of the district collector to maintain transparency and proper allocation.

Security and Surveillance Measures

Security arrangements have been significantly enhanced with the deployment of comprehensive CCTV camera networks and modern artificial intelligence technology to continuously monitor devotee movement throughout the festival area. Authorities will implement systematic reporting measures to update the government on devotee numbers every hour.

Minister Ramanarayana Reddy emphasized the critical importance of seamless coordination between various government departments to ensure the festival's success and safety.

Volunteer Support and Basic Amenities

Trained volunteers, traditionally known as "Swami Vari Sevakulu," will be strategically deployed throughout the festival grounds to assist devotees and maintain order. Basic amenities including drinking water, buttermilk, milk, and biscuits will be generously provided through the cooperative efforts of temple machinery and voluntary organizations.

The comprehensive planning demonstrates the Andhra Pradesh government's commitment to facilitating a spiritually fulfilling yet safe experience for the hundreds of thousands expected to participate in this significant religious celebration.
