Arun Yadav Initiates Six-Day Consultation for Nagpur Congress President Selection
Former Union minister of state and ex-Madhya Pradesh Congress president Arun Yadav is set to arrive in Nagpur on Friday to launch a comprehensive six-day consultation exercise. The primary objective is to identify the next Nagpur city Congress president, with the final appointment to be made by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) based on his report.
Kickoff with Press Conference and Initial Meetings
Appointed as the national observer for the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan in Nagpur city, Yadav will commence the process with a press conference on Friday. This will be followed by a meeting with the city Congress executive and one-to-one sessions with office-bearers at Devidia Congress Bhavan in Mahal, scheduled for 4 pm.
Constituency-Wise Meetings Across Nagpur
Over the subsequent four days, Yadav will conduct constituency-wise meetings with party workers and office-bearers across all six Nagpur Assembly segments. The detailed schedule is as follows:
- April 11: Meetings with workers from West Nagpur at Ravi Bhavan and South-West Nagpur at Bhagwati Sabhagruh in Trimurti Nagar.
- April 12: Sessions for East Nagpur at Mahakalkar Sabhagruh in Kalmna and North Nagpur at Mahatma Phule Cultural Sabhagruh in Indora.
- April 13: Coverage of Central and South Nagpur workers at Devidia Congress Bhavan and Mahakalkar Sabhagruh in New CBD, respectively.
Engagement with Frontal Organisations and Civil Society
On April 14, Yadav will hold discussions with district chiefs of frontal organisations, departments, and cells, followed by a dialogue with civil society groups and social organisations. Both sessions will take place at Ravi Bhavan, ensuring broad-based input for the selection process.
Final Day and Report Submission
The final day, April 15, is reserved for one-to-one sessions with individuals in contention for the city Congress president's post. After concluding this extensive exercise, Yadav will submit his report to the AICC, which will make the ultimate decision on the appointment. Sources indicate that it typically takes up to a month for the AICC to declare the new president after receiving the observer's report.
This structured approach aims to ensure a transparent and inclusive selection process, reflecting the party's commitment to grassroots engagement and organizational strengthening in Nagpur.
