Assam CM expands cabinet, inducts 12 new ministers

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday expanded his council of ministers, inducting 12 legislators and raising the cabinet strength to 17. Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy at the Jyoti-Bishnu Antarjatik Kala Mandir here.

Newly Inducted Ministers

Among those sworn in were 11 BJP MLAs — Ranoj Pegu, Ashok Singhal, Biswajit Daimary, Ashwini Ray Sarkar, Nilima Devi, Sushanta Borgohain, Bimal Borah, Jayant Mallabaruah, Kaushik Rai, Krishnendu Paul, and Pijush Hazarika — and one AGP legislator, Keshab Mahanta.

Previous Cabinet Formation

In the earlier swearing-in on May 12, AGP’s Atul Bora, BPF’s Charan Boro, and BJP’s Ajanta Neog and Rameswar Teli took oath along with Sarma.
