Assam man held for theft of Rs 5 lakh construction materials

Mangalapuram police on Thursday arrested a 33-year-old man from Assam in connection with the theft of construction materials worth around Rs 5 lakh from work sites linked to the national highway development project in the district.

Details of the Arrest

The accused, identified as Akadul Haq, a resident of Nagaon in Assam, was staying in rented accommodation at Lilly Complex on Attingal Market Road. According to police, the thefts were reported from the work sites of Pune-based R K Chavan Infrastructure Company located at Pallippuram and Thonnakkal.

Nature of Theft

Police said the accused allegedly stole iron cables and other construction materials from the sites. Following a thorough probe, police traced and arrested the suspect. The arrest was carried out under the leadership of SHO Liyasad Mohammed M.

The accused was later produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing to determine if the accused was involved in similar thefts elsewhere.
