Assam Ministers Get Portfolios: Teli, Neog, Bora, Boro Assigned

Guwahati: The four ministers who took oath alongside Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have been allocated their respective portfolios, marking the beginning of the new state government's administrative structure. The portfolio distribution was announced on Thursday, outlining the responsibilities of each minister.

Portfolio Allocation Details

Rameshwar Teli, a former Union Minister of State, has been entrusted with three key departments: Labour Welfare, Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare, and Transformation and Development. His experience at the central level is expected to bring a fresh perspective to these crucial sectors.

Ajanta Neog, who previously held the finance portfolio in the last government, has been given charge of the Women and Child Development and Tourism departments. Her shift from finance to social and tourism sectors indicates a strategic move to leverage her administrative expertise.

Atul Bora, who served as Agriculture Minister in the previous government, will now head the Panchayat and Rural Development department. Additionally, he will oversee the Implementation of the Assam Accord, Border Protection and Development, and Excise. His expanded portfolio reflects the government's focus on rural empowerment and border security.

Charan Boro retains his earlier responsibilities for Transport and Welfare of Bodoland. His continuity in these roles ensures stability in managing the region's specific needs.

Chief Minister's Responsibilities

All other departments will remain under the direct charge of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma until the ministry is expanded. The expansion is scheduled to take place after the conclusion of the first assembly session on May 26. Until then, the Chief Minister will oversee the remaining portfolios to ensure smooth governance.

This interim arrangement allows the government to function effectively while finalizing the full council of ministers. The allocation of portfolios to the four ministers is seen as a balanced approach, combining experience and continuity with new responsibilities.
