BC Leaders Demand GO 46 Withdrawal, Threaten State-Wide Agitations
BC Associations Demand Withdrawal of GO 46 in Hyderabad

BC Leaders Issue Ultimatum to State Government

Hyderabad witnessed a crucial gathering of Backward Class association leaders on Monday, where they delivered a stern warning to the state government. The meeting, attended by prominent figures including Rajya Sabha MP R Krishnaiah and former BC commission chairman Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan Rao, centered on the immediate withdrawal of GO 46.

The Tuesday Cabinet Meeting Deadline

The leaders explicitly demanded that a decision to revoke GO 46 must be taken during the cabinet meeting scheduled for Tuesday. They declared that failure to meet this demand would result in the launch of state-wide agitations, signaling potential widespread protests across Telangana.

Understanding GO 46 and Reservation Guidelines

The controversial Government Order 46 establishes guidelines for fixing reservations for Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and women within the 50 percent ceiling mandated by the Supreme Court. This ceiling has become the central point of contention between BC communities and the state administration.

Both Krishnaiah and Vakulabharanam accused the Congress government of going back on its promise of providing 42 percent quota to Backward Classes. They emphasized that the party should cease what they termed as "injustice to the BCs" and strongly defend the enhanced BC reservation case currently pending in the high court.

The leaders expressed particular concern about the timing and implementation of GO 46, arguing that it undermines the government's commitment to Backward Classes. Their unified stance represents growing frustration among BC communities regarding reservation policies and their implementation in the state.
