Rashtriya Loktantrik Party leader Hanuman Beniwal launched a significant protest march on Tuesday. He started from the Riyan Badi subdivision in Nagaur district, heading towards Jaipur. This action forms a key part of his ongoing campaign against mining irregularities and the powerful sand mafia operating in the region.
March Highlights Public Meetings and Administration Talks
The day-long march featured several public gatherings along the route. Beniwal and his supporters made stops to address local communities. At the time of reporting, the group had reached the Ajmer-Jaipur district border. They were waiting there to engage in discussions with representatives from the local administration.
Serious Allegations Against Political Parties and Officials
Speaking at an earlier gathering in Riyan Badi, Beniwal made strong accusations. He claimed that functionaries from both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian National Congress are involved. According to him, these politicians are colluding with bureaucrats and police officers to run illegal sand mining operations in the Riyan subdivision.
Beniwal stated that this mafia activity is causing severe environmental harm. He alleged that entire river ecosystems across the region are being destroyed in the process. The RLP leader further charged that the transportation of illegally excavated sand often occurs at night. He insisted this happens under the direct patronage of senior police officials and civic administration officers.
Impact on Common People and Broader Issues
The RLP supremo connected the illegal mining to practical problems for ordinary citizens. He argued that government indifference has led to skyrocketing sand prices. This makes it extremely difficult for common people to afford repairs for their homes. Building new houses has become nearly impossible for many, he added.
Beniwal described the trade as being driven by what he called institutionalised corruption. Due to this, he announced that the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party plans to launch a state-wide agitation on the issue. The protest aims to force authorities to take concrete action against the sand mafia.
Additional Grievances: Railway and Electricity Projects
During his address, Beniwal also raised other concerns affecting the local population. He pointed to serious irregularities in the land survey process for two major railway line projects:
- The Merta to Pushkar railway line
- The Merta to Ras railway line
He blamed these irregularities for resulting in unfair compensation for landowners whose property is being acquired. Furthermore, Beniwal highlighted the plight of farmers impacted by high-tension electricity lines. He emphasized that securing adequate compensation for these farmers remains another critical focus of his movement.
The march from Nagaur to Jaipur symbolizes a growing confrontation over natural resource exploitation and governance in Rajasthan. Beniwal's allegations suggest deep-rooted issues involving political collusion, bureaucratic complicity, and environmental degradation.
