In a shocking incident in Bhilwara, the Aasind police arrested a man on Monday for allegedly murdering his elder brother with an axe and staging the crime as a road accident. The accused, identified as Laxmilal Khatik, a resident of Govindpura village, reportedly killed his brother Kishan, also known as Mewaram, to claim insurance money and resolve a financial dispute.
The Discovery of the Body
The body of Kishan was discovered on the roadside near Kanwalas village on May 3. Police initially shifted the body to the Aasind hospital mortuary and registered a case based on a complaint filed by the deceased's younger brother, Laxmilal Khatik. However, as the investigation progressed, several inconsistencies emerged that led the police to suspect foul play.
Inconsistencies in the Case
Bhilwara SP Dharmendra Singh revealed that the post-mortem examination showed the deceased had sustained injuries only on the head, with no abrasions or scratches typically associated with road accidents. Furthermore, the motorcycle found at the scene was undamaged, raising serious doubts about the accident theory. These discrepancies prompted the police to form a special investigation team.
Investigation and Confession
The special investigation team, supervised by Aasind DYSP Omprakash Solanki and led by station house officer Shraddha Pachhairi, analyzed call detail records and questioned family members. During interrogation, Laxmilal allegedly confessed to the murder. He admitted to killing his elder brother with an axe and then dumping the body near the highway to make it appear as a road accident. The motive behind the crime was to claim insurance money and settle a financial dispute between the brothers.
Arrest and Further Proceedings
Following the confession, police arrested Laxmilal on charges of murder. He has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to uncover all details of the case. The police are also examining whether anyone else was involved in the crime or helped in covering it up.
