Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary walked to the secretariat from his official residence on Friday, responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to spend public money wisely. The gesture aimed to promote fuel conservation and set an example for citizens.
Walk to Secretariat
Choudhary shared a video on social media platform X, showing him walking along a road. In the post, he wrote, 'Respected Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji's call to walk from the official residence to the Chief Minister Secretariat.' The video garnered widespread attention, with many praising the CM's move.
Fuel Conservation Measures
The Chief Minister had earlier announced that his government is planning several steps to reduce fuel consumption. These include promoting work-from-home policies and observing a 'no vehicle day' once a week. The initiative aligns with the government's broader efforts to cut down on unnecessary expenditure and environmental impact.
Choudhary's walk comes amid growing concerns over fuel prices and the need for fiscal discipline. The PM had recently urged all government officials and citizens to adopt frugal habits and avoid wasteful spending. The Bihar CM's action is seen as a direct response to this appeal.
The move has sparked discussions on social media, with many users commending the CM for leading by example. Some have called for similar initiatives in other states to promote sustainable practices and reduce the carbon footprint.
Choudhary's government is also exploring other measures to curb fuel usage, such as encouraging carpooling and optimizing official travel. The 'no vehicle day' plan, if implemented, could significantly cut down on traffic congestion and pollution in Patna.
