Patna: Bihar Congress chief Rajesh Ram on Tuesday announced that the party's state and district committees would be constituted by June 20 at any cost, and appealed to party leaders and workers to strengthen the organisation.
Rajesh became the state Congress president in March last year, replacing Rajya Sabha member Akhilesh Prasad Singh. Although discussions regarding the constitution of the state committee had continued within party circles for months, Rajesh has now formally announced the timeline around 14 months after taking charge.
He made the announcement during a meeting of the 53 organisational district presidents and their observers at the party headquarters. The meeting was convened to review the ongoing Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan aimed at rejuvenating and strengthening the party structure down to the district and block levels.
Rajesh said the organisational restructuring programme should be completed by June 5 and stressed the need to adhere strictly to the schedule. He also warned there would be no laxity in maintaining party discipline.
Those present at the meeting included AICC in-charge for Bihar affairs Krishna Allavaru, MLC Madan Mohan Jha, former MLA Shakeel Ahmad Khan, AICC secretaries Shahnawaz Alam and Poonam Paswan, besides Tauquir Alam and Kapildeo Yadav, among others.
Krishna said leaders dedicated to party work, whether young or senior, would be given important responsibilities in the organisation. He added that second-line leadership would also be strengthened down to the booth level.
This restructuring effort is part of the Congress party's broader strategy to revitalise its base in Bihar, where it has faced electoral challenges. The Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan aims to build a robust grassroots network, ensuring effective outreach and cadre development. The party hopes that by meeting the June 20 deadline, it will enhance its organisational efficiency ahead of upcoming elections.
Rajesh Ram's leadership has been under scrutiny since his appointment, and this announcement signals his commitment to fulfilling organisational goals. The involvement of senior AICC leaders underscores the importance of this exercise for the party's future in Bihar.
