Bihar's 2026 Calendar Maps Path to Developed State

In a significant event marking the state's developmental trajectory, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled the Bihar Diary and Calendar for the year 2026 on Thursday. The release ceremony, organized for mass sale and distribution, was attended by senior state officials and underscored the government's commitment to a progressive Bihar.

A Calendar with a Developmental Theme

According to an official communiqué from the Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD), the Calendar 2026 is unique in both its design and content. Each month features images dedicated to specific welfare and developmental themes, all linked to the government's flagship 'Saat Nishchay (Seven Resolves)-03' programme. The calendar also marks important dates relevant to each month.

The government stated that today's Bihar is decisively marching on the path of growth, with its progress aligning closely with the aspirations of its people. The visuals in the calendar have been carefully curated from various welfare schemes currently being implemented across the state, aiming to realize the vision of a developed Bihar.

The Seven Pillars for a Developed Bihar

The Saat Nishchay-03 programme forms the core foundation of Bihar's developmental roadmap. Its primary objective is to ensure opportunities, facilities, and human dignity for every citizen. The initiatives under this programme are strategically aimed at doubling the per capita income and generating substantial employment.

The seven key resolves are:

  • Doubling per capita income and overall income levels.
  • Promoting industries to build a strong Bihar.
  • Strengthening agriculture for the state's prosperity.
  • Developing education for a brighter future.
  • Ensuring accessible healthcare for a secure life.
  • Creating a sound base for the expansion of modernity.
  • Ensuring dignity for all citizens.

Accelerating Growth Through Strategic Initiatives

The government communiqué further elaborated on the mechanisms to accelerate development. A "new triangle of investment, industries, agriculture, and cooperatives" has been formed to drive economic growth. To prepare the youth for global competition, education and skill development initiatives are being significantly strengthened. The government has pledged to provide jobs and work opportunities to one crore (10 million) youths over the next five years.

In the realm of technology and innovation, the state has framed the IT Policy 2024 to encourage start-ups and digital skilling. The tourism sector is receiving a boost, while growth in rural infrastructure is unlocking new opportunities. Key urban infrastructure projects highlighted include the JP Ganga Path, metro rail services, and airport developments to improve connectivity.

The empowerment of 1.40 crore (14 million) women associated with the Jeevika programme was hailed as a landmark achievement. Additionally, the development of sports facilities and the growth of makhana cultivation are giving Bihar a new identity on the national stage.

The 12 pages of the Calendar 2026 will depict images reflecting these wide-ranging developmental activities, arranged in a defined sequence to narrate the state's progress story.

The event was graced by Information and Public Relations Department Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, the CM's Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, the CM's Secretary and IPRD Secretary Anupam Kumar, along with other senior officials including Kumar Ravi and Chandrashekhar Singh.
