BJP Pays Tribute to Tribal Revolutionary Across Jharkhand

The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party organized Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrations throughout Jharkhand on Saturday, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of revered tribal icon Birsa Munda. The event marked the special day that the Central government had officially declared as Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas in 2023, with November 15 now permanently designated for honoring tribal contributions to Indian history and culture.

Emotional Ceremony at Birsa Munda's Birthplace

Saffron party leaders gathered in Ulihati, the birthplace of Birsa Munda located in Khunti district, to pay heartfelt tributes to the tribal revolutionary. Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram personally met with the descendants of the legendary freedom fighter and honored them during the ceremony. The BJP leaders later addressed a significant rally at Kutchery Maidan in Khunti to mark the historic occasion, drawing participants from across the region.

During the emotional gathering in Ulihatu, party representatives held a special meeting with the living descendants of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The family members received honors through traditional shawls draped over their shoulders and the presentation of commemorative mementos. The ceremony witnessed substantial participation from local villagers and public representatives, transforming into what many described as a unique symbol of tribal pride and Jharkhand's distinct cultural identity.

State Leadership Joins in Homage

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also paid his respects through social media, posting on platform X: "On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Jharkhand State Foundation Day, I pay my hundred-fold salutations to the struggle and martyrdom of Dharti Aaba. Long live Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda! Long live! Long live!"

In a separate development highlighted by a state BJP evening statement, Budhram Munda and Ravi Munda, direct descendants of the tribal leader, attended a program in Narmada, Gujarat to observe the revolutionary's birth anniversary. The statement confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who attended the Gujarat event, personally felicitated the descendants, demonstrating the national significance of the tribal icon's legacy.
