BJP leader Shobha Surendran on Thursday declared that although she could not win the assembly election in Palakkad, she would remain actively engaged in the constituency as a 'shadow MLA' for the next five years. Speaking to media persons in Palakkad, Surendran emphasized that the constituency would now have both an elected MLA and herself working alongside the people.
"Palakkad constituency will have an MLA in the assembly, and I will be there as a shadow MLA," she stated. She also expressed gratitude to the voters who supported the BJP in the constituency. "We were able to increase BJP's vote share in Palakkad. I share my happiness with everyone who voted for the party," she said.
Referring to the party's overall performance in Kerala, Surendran noted that the BJP's victory in three seats across the state was encouraging. She took a dig at the CPM, saying, "CPM had claimed that BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar will be locked away by V Sivankutty with a 'Manichitrathazhu'. We have broken that lock." She added, "The BJP is happy with the victory achieved in three seats in Kerala."
